Another is a concealed barrier system, which drains the
majority of the water at the face of the cladding but also provides a moisture barrier.á This barrier behind the cladding resists the
migration of moisture further into
the wall assembly and directs water to the exterior if it penetrates past the cladding.á
Drainage is provided through a combination of water shedding at the
face of the wall and a minimal
amount of drainage at the barrier.
Drained cavity wall, a third water management system,
uses the cladding to keep the majority of the moisture outside of the assembly but also makes
improved provisions for drying and drainage.á
The main difference is the
presence of a cavity between the barrier and the cladding to provide for free drainage of a larger volume of water.
